Monty is more than capable of bowling extra overs than Giles as he hasn't got a dodgy hip! On this pitch Monty could easily have played instead of Giles as it is so docile and Perth sounds like it is similarly docile.

However, with Fred seemingly injured it might have to be Mahmood who comes in for Anderson rather than Joyce, although as I have said before he is the next best option in the squad, possibly not the next best option overall. I would turn to Tremlett or Broad. Ultimately, Monty must play though because old wheely-bin is not going to bowl Australia out!Chrispyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17116768172493122694noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37251922.post-1165175995274335612006-12-03T19:59:00.000+00:002006-12-03T19:59:00.000+00:00I have found it very difficult to watch Giles bowl...I have found it very difficult to watch Giles bowling in this series, as each time he wheels away I wish it was Panesar instead, who would actually threaten the Australian batsmen. It is ridiculous in the extreme for England to have discovered a top class spinner and not play him. Your point about playing four bowlers is a valid one, as Panesar could easily take the brunt of the bowling. With Joyce in at six England would have that batting depth Fletcher is so fond of. The dropped catch was just the irony on top of the idiocy.Nick Gammonshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15078764238948971216noreply@blogger.com
