I've often harped on about the similarities between Flintoff's averages and Shaun Pollocks and the fact that Pollock bats eight for Saffers. Pollock is too good for eight, Flintoff not good enough for six. It's a problem we don't need with the lack of top order runs, but then, everyone knows I want KP at three anyway!Chrispyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17116768172493122694noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37251922.post-66712575126793479392007-04-05T17:19:00.000+01:002007-04-05T17:19:00.000+01:00Dropping him down the order might help him. If he hits a qick 30 or 40 this might bring some confidence back and get him back into form. However in Tests, sadly I don't think (even on form) he is good enough for a consistent number 6.Whinging Pomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05087464500932402084noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37251922.post-9708727962720037592007-04-05T14:46:00.000+01:002007-04-05T14:46:00.000+01:00I think that dropping him to 7 in the batting orde...I think that dropping him to 7 in the batting order may help him to recapture his past form. He is clearly in the team principally for his bowling now with the ability to hit the ball a long way an added advantage.

The other option, given England's other problems, may be to open. This would mean that he didn't have to start against spin, so the hard hands wouldn't be as much as an issue. He's always looked more comfortable against pace at the start of his innings.

It's a tough ask if we've bowled first, but it may solve two problems in one goRichard Lakehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12305428361656401297noreply@blogger.com
