That's got to be one of the most prescient predictions of the season!Timhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09215417891130654291noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37251922.post-33117571469781478512008-04-11T16:50:00.000+01:002008-04-11T16:50:00.000+01:00I am not convinced that Notts will stay up. I would be surprised if Wood din't force his way into the limited overs side as well as he was very good in the T20 the year Somerset triumphed. Hussey and Fleming leave a gaping hole in the middle order. It will be great to see Voges, he is an exciting batsman on the verge of Aussie selection. He will have to perform well to make up for the loss of those two. As for the bowling, well Broad and Sidebottom aren't going to be around I'm afraid (Hants never see Pietersen). Schreck is on the verge of a call up and if he gets it that is game over for Notts I fear. Ealham, Franks and Swann are decent limited overs bowlers, but not too scary in the four day game. Like you say, it could all come down to how much success Pattinson has. Think Notts, Surrey and Hants are scraping for survival this year.Chrispyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17116768172493122694noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37251922.post-90039762521188171092008-04-11T15:40:00.000+01:002008-04-11T15:40:00.000+01:00Hi Simon ... I'd never really thought about Wagh for England but if he can keep consistent, you could be right, though I'm sure they are looking at Patel already.

I badly hope you are right about Footit .. that would be a huge bonus. I agree that Shrek has to perform but I still think the difference between staying up or not is if Pattinson works out or not.

I didn't mention Read as captain for the reason that he's an unknown in that area at the 4 day game and I didn't want to condem him before he starts .. but .. if you do want my opinion .. I'm not convinced it's a good appointment, but I'm prepared to give him a shot and see how it goes.Chanting Buddhahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00247462809097433864noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37251922.post-47595492116412777052008-04-11T13:23:00.000+01:002008-04-11T13:23:00.000+01:00Hey fella, Decent write up. I imagine Wagh will get an England call before Patel though.

Bowling wise Shreck will be the key man. Pattison is an unknown so not sure how he can be the key man. If Shreck stays fit all year I imagine we will just about stay up. Look for Footitt to make a breakthru as well this season.

Finally, suprised you didn't mention Read's captaincy. Big season for him to replace the sheer class of Fleming as skipper.

Survival here we come......

Simon aka YAMS from TMSB Exiles.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
