I know he's been in fantastic form for Essex, but so far he's got a lot of hype for doing very little in the international game. I think he needs to bat in the top 5 if he's going to play at all - and at the moment, I don't think he's quite good enough.Timhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09215417891130654291noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37251922.post-80738110616989036762008-06-19T21:20:00.000+01:002008-06-19T21:20:00.000+01:00A bit harsh on Ravi, Tim. However, he does need to show a bit of more in the next three matches if he's not to spend the next One Day series watching.

The other name I'd throw in as an alternative to one of the seamers is Tim Bresnan. He's opening the bowling for Yorks bowling around 85 mph. His batting is on a par with Broad's and I feel he's worth another shot at International cricket.Richard Lakehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12305428361656401297noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37251922.post-29942537695335551812008-06-19T18:47:00.000+01:002008-06-19T18:47:00.000+01:00Certainly am familiar with your musings Chris!Basi...Certainly am familiar with your musings Chris!

Basically I agree with your team, although I'd be tempted to play to England's strength and pick 4 frontline seamers, leaving Wright and Colly to bowl 10 between them.

My team:
Wright
Bell
KP
Shah
Colly
Afzaal/Hildreth - I want a left-hander in the top 6. Also, these two players have greater six-hitting capacity than Ravi internationals. His strike-rate - 65 - in 21 ODI innings is actually pretty awful!
Flintoff
Ambrose/Prior
Broad
Sidebottom
Anderson

With Swann to come in on spinning tracks.Timhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09215417891130654291noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37251922.post-3620574824089496662008-06-19T12:41:00.000+01:002008-06-19T12:41:00.000+01:00I agree that Tredwell will be monitored closely. However, having seen him play for the Lions he doesn't seem to offer much threat in the longer format at the top level (mind you neither did Swann) and that's why I think Panesar and Rashid are more likely to challenge long term in the future. I would though be interested to see Tredwell as the second spinner in T20 prehaps. Good fielder too for a big man.Chrispyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17116768172493122694noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37251922.post-14513736036006270222008-06-19T10:19:00.000+01:002008-06-19T10:19:00.000+01:00Things are certainly taking shape for England. Another name I would throw into the hat is James Tredwell as the spinner - he bowls with good flight and is a proper frontline batsman.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
